Lazy Shakespeare In The Park

I've been trying to work up to doing a Shakespeare in the Park for quite some time. Even bought Judy Martin's book and got the ruler. I've got my fabrics, just trying to figure out the pattern. I'm hoping I'm not in over my head. It's a beautiful pattern in one color or multiple colors. My favorites are done in Batiks. While looking through some of my quilt books, I found this pattern. Looked like a Shakespeare to me, well sorta. Snail's Trail, Monkey Wrench or other names given to this block. I thought I might try this as a warm up to the real thing. The blocks are a little bigger than the 12 1/2" real SITP. Each block is 24 1/2". OHhhhhh this will be easy I thought............ Sure enough, I put several blocks in wrong. I didn't see the mistakes till I was putting on the last row last night. I've taken it apart to fix it, so it was an easy fix. Glad it wasn't in the middle somewhere. Mr. Big didn't care whether it was right or not, it worked for him.

Pets and Quilts

Why is it every time you pull out something to photograph or work on the pets you haven't seen all day long are drawn to you and what you are doing. These pictures are of the first quilt I made at my first quilt retreat. I wanted something bright.........I think I got it. This really does lay flat. That lump in the middle of the quilt is one of the cats that I haven't seen all day. The other is the back of the same quilt with Scribbles wandering around on it. He's not the same cat that was under it.

Orange Crush Steps 1-5

Here's were we are so far. I wasn't too sure the lime and orange would work together, but with the rest of the colors it looks fine. The orange is toned down some with the other colors.

Orange Crush Step 5

I couldn't wait to lay out the next blocks. That orange is a real eye killer. I would have sewn some today, but Mr. Big and I went to the dog show in Kalamazoo. It was a perfect day to show and visit with friends. As you can see, it completely wore Mr. Big out. He's not use to having t walk around on under his own power. He's so spoiled, he usually gets carried.

Don't Try This At Home (In the House)

I was getting frustrated with my old walk behind lawn spreader getting clogged up all the time and having to spend the entire day putting down 'turf builders'. . It was old, had bad wheels, what other things can I find wrong with it to justify spending too much money on a new one I can pull behind my lawn tractor. I didn't have good light in the garage and wanted to use it this morning so I brought the box in the house and assembled it in the dining room. What I didn't do was measure or read the finished measurements of the assembled unit! Now how to get it OUT the door.

We are expecting puppies this summer just in time to celebrate July 4th. These little cuties, born late last year, are all in their new homes.

Lazy Rainy Day

Today it's cool and raining after a beautiful sunny day yesterday. Even the short legged, hairy one, Clyde, wants to stay inside where he can catch some Z's. It's too wet to work outside, so I'm going to work on more of my Spinning stars.

Which Color

I thought I had my colors all picked out. But......the blue just didn't look right. Off to stash to shop for a lighter or brighter blue. I came up with the turquoise. It works with 'most' of the other OC colors.........except my green. If I stick with the turquoise, I'll be shopping stash again......

As One Life Journey Ends, Another Begins

A few days after I lost Cruzer, I was asked if I could be available to help with a Corgi C section. Through xrays, they knew mom had at least 10, possibly more. When there are that many, the more hands the better. The little ones and 'Wally' were introduced to their wonderful new world. "Wally" is the big puppy laying on top of everybody.

How Do You Say Goodbye

Lovingly, quietly and gently. I made him a promise 14 yrs ago that I would never let him suffer or loose his dignity. That day came last week. They say the best place to bury a dog is deep in your heart. He has left an empty spot on my bed and huge hole in my heart. Goodbye my sweet boy. You are missed.
